What is Micro Fuse
A micro fuse is a radial leaded subminiature fuse offered in either a cylindrical or rectangular form factor. Micro fuses were originally designed for the U.S. Space Program. The micro fuse is made with either glass, plastic or metal bodies. They are designed to be electrically equivalent to miniature glass cartridge fuses in a smaller package with higher tolerance to impact and vibration. Micro fuses can plug in to a PC board mounted fuse holder. Micro fuse voltage ratings typically range from 65 volts AC to 300 volts AC. Micro fuses with voltage ratings up to 450 volts DC are also available. Micro fuses are offered in fast acting or time lag versions.

Benefits of Micro Fuse
Overcurrent Protection
Fuses provide effective protection against overcurrent conditions by interrupting the circuit when excessive currents flow, preventing damage to equipment and electrical systems.
Reliability
Fuses are simple and reliable devices with no moving parts. They operate based on the principle of thermal or magnetic properties of the fuse element, ensuring consistent and predictable performance.
Fast Response Time
Fuses have a fast response time, reacting quickly to overcurrent conditions to minimize the risk of damage to connected equipment and prevent safety hazards such as fires or electrical shocks.
Inexpensive
Fuses are relatively inexpensive compared to other types of protective devices such as circuit breakers or protective relays. They offer cost-effective overcurrent protection for a wide range of electrical applications.
Are the mini and low-profile mini fuses the same as regular fuses for automobiles?
Mini and low-profile mini fuses are not the same as regular automotive fuses, though they serve a similar purpose. Here’s a breakdown of the differences:

Fuse Types:
Standard Fuses:
●Typically larger in size.
●Commonly used in older vehicles.
●Have a flat blade design that fits into standard fuse boxes.
Mini Fuses:
●Smaller than standard fuses.
●Designed to fit in more compact fuse boxes.
●Provide the same function but take up less space.
Low-Profile Mini Fuses:
●Even smaller than regular mini fuses.
●Specifically designed for tighter spaces in modern vehicles.
●Offer the same electrical protection but in a more compact form.
Key Differences:
Size: Mini and low-profile mini fuses are smaller than standard fuses.
Compatibility: Each type has a specific design that fits different fuse box slots. You cannot interchange them without an appropriate adapter or modification.
Current Ratings: All types can be rated for different amperages, so it's important to use the correct fuse type and rating for your vehicle's electrical system.

Key Considerations in Selection
When selecting a fuse, it's important to understand the parameters of the circuit used and consider the following aspects: normal current, fusing current (current and time to fuse), open circuit voltage, short-circuit current, impulse current (current, time, and frequency of occurrence), and ambient temperature.
Normal Current: First, we must know the normal current flowing through the fuse in the circuit. Typically, a derating factor should be applied, and the normal current must be less than the product of the rated current and the derating coefficient.
Fusing Current: According to UL specifications, the fuse should fuse quickly at twice the rated current. However, to ensure reliable fusing, we recommend that the fusing current be greater than 2.5 times the rated current. If the fusing time is critical, refer to the fusing characteristic diagram provided by the manufacturer.
Open Circuit Voltage: The open circuit voltage should generally be less than the rated voltage. For example, using a fuse with a rated voltage of DC 24V in an AC 100V circuit may cause the fuse to ignite or break.
Short Circuit Current: The maximum current that flows during a short circuit is known as the short circuit current. Each fuse has a specified rated breaking capacity. It is essential to ensure that the short circuit current does not exceed this capacity; selecting a fuse with a low breaking capacity could result in fuse failure or fire.
Impulse Current: Observe the waveform of the impulse current (pulse current waveform) and calculate its energy using the i²t value (Joule integral). The impact on the fuse varies with the magnitude and frequency of the impulse current. The ratio of the i²t value of the impulse current to that of a single pulse fusing determines how many times the fuse can withstand impulse current.
When a one-time fuse is energized, the heat converted by electrical energy raises the melt temperature. When the normal working current or allowed overload current passes through, the heat generated will radiate to the surrounding environment through the melt and outer shell, and the heat emitted by convection and conduction will gradually reach the balance with the heat generated. If the heat generated is greater than the heat emitted, the excess heat will gradually accumulate in the melt, causing the melt temperature to rise. When the temperature reaches and exceeds the melting point of the melt, it will make the melt melt, fuse and cut off the current, played the role of safety protection circuit.

Signs and Dangers of Fuse Malfunction
When a fuse malfunctions, it can cause a variety of issues that can be dangerous for you and your vehicle. Here are some signs to look out for:
Electrical issues
If you notice that your dash cam or other electronic devices are not working properly, it could be a sign of a blown fuse. In some cases, the device may not turn on at all.
Short circuits: A short circuit can occur when the electrical current in a circuit takes a shortcut and bypasses the normal path. This can cause a fuse to blow, which can be dangerous if left unchecked.
Overload
If you have too many devices connected to a single circuit, it can overload the circuit and cause a fuse to blow. This can be a serious issue if the circuit is connected to important systems in your vehicle.
Broken fuses
If a fuse is broken or damaged, it will not be able to properly regulate the electrical current in the circuit. This can lead to issues with your dash cam or other devices, and can even cause a fire
What Are Fuses Made From?
Fuses are made from Glass, Ceramic, or Plastic. The body of a Glass Fuse is called the barrel and it has a terminal made of plated copper or brass at each end. These terminals are connected by the fuse element, which is made of copper, aluminium, zinc, or silver. The element could either be a single wire, or consist of more than one wire. The multiple wires could be arranged in different ways to make the fuse behave differently. Sometimes, sand or quartz powder is filled in the body to alter the behavior of the fuse. This is usually the case in a ceramic fuse.
