Advantages of Thermostats

Save money on your energy bills
One of the biggest benefits of installing a smart thermostat is the energy savings. The average household spends more than $2,300 a year on energy bills, nearly half of which goes to heating and cooling. By heating and cooling your home more efficiently with a smart thermostat, you can save significant amounts of energy—which can mean savings as high as $145 a year.

Adjust the temperature anytime, anywhere
Unlike standard programmable thermostats, smart thermostats’ remote control capabilities allow you to adjust the heat or air conditioning from your mobile phone, tablet, or even smart speaker—even from outside your home. As long as you have a Wi-Fi connection, you can adjust your home’s temperature from anywhere, right on your mobile device. So if you’re coming home earlier or later than usual, or there’s a sudden change in the weather while you’re away, you can rest assured that your home is the perfect temperature—and isn’t wasting energy.

Let your thermostat do the work for you
Beyond the remote control capabilities, smart thermostats have several other unique advantages that make them “smart.” Some smart thermostats can learn your heating and cooling preferences as well as your daily routine and automatically adjust accordingly. Some have room sensors that can measure the temperature in a specific room or area of the home and heat or cool it based on its current temperature, reducing hot or cold spots. Thermostats with geofencing can also recognize when people enter or leave the home and turn the system on or off accordingly. All of these “smart” features offer benefits beyond what you’ll receive with a standard programmable thermostat.

Stay on top of things
Many smart thermostats can detect and alert you when there’s a problem with your HVAC system, such as a power outage or system failure, and they can remind you when it’s time to perform maintenance such as changing the air filter. Smart thermostats also give you plenty of information to take control of your energy use. On your mobile device, you can see how much energy you’re using and adjust the settings to see the results immediately. Many devices keep track of your energy usage over time, providing reports that allow you to see your usage patterns and make adjustments.

Look stylish
Many smart thermostats have modern, sophisticated designs to help blend in with your home’s decor—a stylish replacement for those clunky traditional thermostats. Smart thermostats such as Google Nest, Ecobee, Mysa, and Amazon all offer sleek, modern designs for your 21st century home.

Help protect the environment
Improving the energy efficiency of your home’s heating and cooling system not only saves you money on your energy bills—it also helps protect the environment by reducing harmful emissions from fossil fuel power plants. The less energy you use, the smaller your home’s carbon footprint will be. By installing an energy-efficient smart thermostat, you can help do your part to protect our planet against climate change. Plus, many smart thermostats also offer eco-friendly benefits beyond just the energy efficiency, such as insights into your energy usage and an eco-mode setting for peak energy conservation.

Types of Thermostats

Line-voltage thermostats: Line-voltage thermostats are most often used to control electric resistance heating equipment. Typically, they are paired with electric baseboard heaters, in-wall heaters, radiant heaters, and other single heating units, but are sometimes installed to control central heat pump systems, including ductless mini split heating systems.

Low-voltage thermostats: Low-voltage thermostats are used with central forced air heating systems such as furnaces and heat pumps, as well as central boiler heating systems. Because electrical resistance is not used to create heat in these systems, much less voltage is required versus a line-voltage thermostat.

Manual thermostats: The most basic of thermostats are the manual thermostats. The user must manually make all adjustments to thermostat and temperature settings when using this type of control. Mechanical and digital thermostat options are also available – older line-voltage thermostats are commonly mechanical while digital thermostat models are seen in both types of thermostats.

Programmable thermostats: Programmable thermostats offer programming capabilities that automate temperature adjustments in the home, which can reduce household energy consumption when used correctly.

Wi-Fi thermostats: Wi-Fi thermostats offer the programming capabilities of programmable thermostat models, in addition to wireless internet connection. With the thermostat connected to the home’s Wi-Fi, homeowners are able to access it remotely for convenience, while in the home or away.

Smart thermostats: Smart thermostat models are the most advanced options amongst the different types of thermostats. They can do everything a programmable or Wi-Fi thermostat model can, and more.

FAQ

Q: What is a thermostat needed for?

A: Introduction. Thermostats regulate the temperature of the engine cooling water (jacket water) when the engine is in operation. The thermostat allows the engine to heat-up quickly when cold and maintain a desired temperature once the desired temperature has been reached.

Q: How long is a thermostat good for?

A: As with any system, eventually, your thermostat will become outdated. Modern home thermostats tend to have about a 10-year lifespan but are usually replaced sooner due to innovations in the market. Non-programmable thermostats have become outdated and replaced by programmable (or learning) thermostats.

Q: What are the basics of a thermostat?

A: To put it simply, thermostats are able to detect the temperature of a space, and afterward deliver a signal to your cooling and heating equipment to adjust the temperature until it reaches your desired set point. The mechanics of the adjustment can vary based on the specific hardware your thermostat is connected to.

Q: What are your prices?

A: Our prices are subject to change depending on supply and other market factors. We will send you an updated price list after your company contact us for further information.

Q: What temperature thermostat is best?

A: Or better yet, “What is the most energy saving temperature to set my thermostat at?” According to ENERGYSTAR.gov, the ideal home temperature should be between 70 to 78 degrees Fahrenheit.

Q: What are the two main types of thermostats?

A: There are two different types of thermostats: line-voltage thermostats and low-voltage thermostats. Each of these thermostat types works with certain types of heating systems and they differ based on the voltage they use to operate.

Q: Do you have a minimum order quantity?

A: Yes, we require all international orders to have an ongoing minimum order quantity. If you are looking to resell but in much smaller quantities, we recommend you check out our website.

Q: How do thermostat settings work?

A: It will read the desired temperature that you have set and will turn your system on to achieve that desired temperature. For example, if it's the middle of summer and you would like your home to be at a cool 76 degrees, you'll set the temperature on your thermostat to 76 degrees.

Q: Do you need wifi for thermostat to work?

A: Yes, smart thermostats work without Wifi. However, doing so limits the thermostat's functionality. Smart devices are designed for optimal performance with a Wifi connection. Not using the device for its intended purpose limits you to a basic remote control thermostat without Wifi.

Q: Can you supply the relevant documentation?

A: Yes, we can provide most documentation including Certificates of Analysis / Conformance; Insurance; Origin, and other export documents where required.

Q: How do you properly use a thermostat?

A: Here's a basic guide: Turning It On: Ensure your thermostat is on and set to the correct mode (heating or cooling). Setting the Temperature: Use the up and down buttons or a dial to set your desired temperature. For programmable models, you may need to enter a programming mode.
