Operational Principle

The bimetal thermostat is composed of two metal sheets that are bonded together and have thermal expansion coefficients that differ. When the temperature of the motor increases:

Thermal expansion causes the bimetal strip to deform.
The circuit is interrupted by the contact opening as a result of a mechanical linkage.
The circuit is reconnected when the strip returns to its original shape when the temperature lowers to the reset point.
